| Foster and Kinship Care Service; Social Health Unit The following positions are in a team of workers that delivers the Out of Home Care Program - NATSIHA, Foster and Kinship Care Service, which aims to be of high quality and best practice service delivery that meets ‘Out of Home Care’ Licensing requirements. Applications for these positions must be received by COB Monday May 26, 2008 The Administrative Officer provides quality and efficient administrative and reception support for the NATSIHA Foster and Kinship Care Service. There are currently four Foster and Kinship Care Worker vacancies, one in Cairns, one in Innisfail and two in Atherton. As a Care Worker your goal will be to provide quality and culturally appropriate placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in out of home care. This is achieved through the recruitment, assessment and support of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Foster and Kinship Carers, with the ultimate goal of securing and maintaining a stable placement for the child or young persons’ time in care. The purpose of the Training Officer position is to provide quality and culturally appropriate Department of Child Safety Pre-Service and Standards Training and associated competency assessments to Foster and Kinship Carers and to Foster and Kinship Carer applicants. To also provide other Carer-specific training and training avenues to Foster and Kinship Carers to maintain positive placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in out of home care. The primary role of this position includes the following tasks; • To plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate health programs, including community health education and health promotion; • To provide population health screening; • To provide assessment services in the general clinic; • Operate as part of a health team; • To record episodes of care, either manually or on computer and provide relevant reports to the HSM; • Advocate for the planned and coordinated care of the community within the clinic and externally as required; • Ensure equity of access and best practice in continuity of care, including an effective patient health information management systems; • To take an active role in implementing comprehensive primary health care and generating community demand for comprehensive health care services; • Supervise other peer Aboriginal Health Workers to ensure effective and appropriate Aboriginal Health Worker standard of practice within a multi-disciplinary team, if necessary. |  |
